How to install inMedia Reputation, add sources and keywords, and show your mentions on your site.
Install It
In your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, install and activate. You can also upload the extracted inmedia folder to /wp-content/plugins/ over FTP.
A short setup wizard opens on first activation and asks for your first keyword and your first source. You can change both later.
Add Monitoring Sources
The plugin monitors RSS feeds. You can add a source in two ways:
- Any RSS feed. Paste the feed address of a news site or blog.
- The Source Library. On the Monitoring Sources screen, browse official news feeds by continent and country and add up to 25 at a time. They become ordinary RSS sources that you can edit or delete.
The plugin checks each source on a schedule and stores anything matching your keywords as a mention. The free version checks every six hours. The Pro add-on, coming soon, lets you choose anything from five minutes to twenty four hours.
Choose Your Keywords
Add your brand, your own name, your product names, and the spellings people actually use rather than the ones you prefer.
Arabic is handled properly. Different spellings and forms of the same Arabic word are matched together, so a mention is not missed because of a hamza or a different alif.
Add A Mention By Hand
Social platforms are not crawled automatically. To add a post or video from X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion or Pinterest, paste its link into Add Mention and the plugin fetches what it needs to display it. You can also add a news article by its link, or type a quote by hand.
Display Mentions On Your Site
Use the inMedia Mentions block, or the shortcode:
[inmedia_news layout="grid" lang="en"]
List and grid layouts are in the free version. Mosaic, slider and the interactive map come with the Pro add-on. If you ask for a layout you do not have, it falls back to the list layout.
One SEO note. If you publish the same set of mentions through more than one layout, keep only one of those pages public and leave the rest as drafts or noindex them. Search engines treat identical underlying content as duplicate regardless of how it is laid out.
Turn A Mention Into A Post
Any mention can become a full WordPress post in one click, with the focus keyword and meta description already filled in for Yoast or Rank Math.
Wall Of Love
Feature your best mentions as testimonials on your own pages. Marking new mentions as testimonials requires the Pro add-on.
What The Plugin Connects To
Once you add a source, the plugin checks it on its own every six hours. Everything else on this list happens only when you or a visitor use the matching feature:
- The RSS feeds you added, at each check. A feed’s logo is downloaded once into your Media Library when you add it.
- An article page, once, to read its preview image when the feed has none, or to fill in the title and image of a link you add by hand.
- The image of a mention you convert into a post, downloaded into your Media Library.
- X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion or Pinterest, only when you add one of their links, to fetch the embed. Instagram links need no request from your server.
- Embedded posts and videos, OpenStreetMap map tiles and country flag images from s.w.org are loaded by the visitor’s browser, on the pages that show them.
The plugin’s readme lists every outside service, what each request sends, and the link to its terms and privacy policy.
Requirements
- WordPress 5.3 or later, tested up to 7.1.
- PHP 8.1 or later. We recommend 8.3 or newer.
